We are pleased to say all of our boarders are now back! We love having them all here as it gives such energy to the boarding precinct. Getting back into routine after time away from school can be difficult. We are supporting the boarding girls with this all the time. Some routines have changed in these Covid times. We are now washing the girls’ uniforms as soon as they return to the boarding house in the afternoon. Sport, dancing, traineeships, Deadly Choices, Art club, tutoring and work have now started for many boarders and we are busily ensuring the girls get to all of these commitments. Musical is back! We have girls rehearsing for the musical which is coming up this term. It is a quick turnaround for these ladies.
Coming up this term there are two long weekends. The 14 August and the 4 September. We plan on doing some exciting activities but we can’t lock things in too far ahead at the moment due to the uncertainty that arises every time a Covid case is announced. Currently the situation is great here in Central Queensland and we hope that it stays this way. If boarders do head out on leave we expect that families will consider who the girls are in contact with as they have to return to our boarding community afterwards.
Kate Watson, one of our new boarding supervisors, has joined us from Tall Sailing Ships Sorlandet where she taught science and supervised students while they sailed around the Atlantic visiting various ports including Jamaica, Rome, Tangier and Las Palmas. Before that Kate has worked in various international schools around the world working with students from many cultures and backgrounds. Fortunately for us Covid has meant Kate needed to remain in Australia and she has joined our boarding team.
