Boarding Bulletin

Boarding at Girls Grammar is all about opportunities. Experiences these young ladies are unlikely to have in the regional and remote areas in which they live. In the past week or so our girls have had the opportunity to try rowing, attend touch football and rugby league clinics with the Broncos women’s team, attended horse riding lessons and been involved in Rockhampton District and Capricornia sports trials. Rowing was a big hit with the girls. Fifteen boarders went down to the river on Tuesday afternoon to give rowing a go. Lily Kittelty, one of our new boarding supervisors and Meredith, Year 11 ran the program with the help of the Rockhampton Fitzroy rowing club captain and president. The girls are keen to get out and do this again so our rowing program will start in the coming weeks with Lily coaching the girls. The Rockhampton District trials have been happening the past few weeks. Our girls have been successful in gaining selection for the next level which is great news for them and our school. This past weekend our girls also participated in clinics with the Broncos women’s team after many of our girls met them at the Darumbal Youth Group on Friday. On Monday, one of our girls had a horse riding lesson that her family organised. These experiences are rarely available in the regions and communities that our girls come from. This is why having your daughter at Rockhampton Girls Grammar school is the right decision – so many wonderful opportunities.

So much is planned in the coming weeks. Deanne and I are looking forward to visiting Biloela this Saturday morning to catch up with our current, past and future families. Please contact Wendy Sheppard if you plan on joining us for our first regional meet and greet of 2021. Have a great week.
