As the 2022 School year nears an end, I would firstly like to congratulate you on your hard work and effort. I would also like to remind you all to stay focused. It is important that you don’t lose sight of your Term 4 academic goals and continue to work on your studies. This may also be an opportunity to spend some time thinking about 2022 and what made it memorable for you.
Reflect – Think over your academic goals for the year. Did you achieve them? If not, why not? What held you back? Reflect on your personal goals. Did you meet those? Do you need to continue with some moving into 2023?
Reset – If you have seen your focus drifting, it may be time to reset. We still have Term 4 assessment to complete, and you may need to reset your thoughts to allow you to remain on task for the last weeks of the school year. Remember to use what you have learnt about Growth Mindset this year and use this as an opportunity to remind yourself that you may not be where you want to be ‘yet’, but it is possible to get there.
Reimagine – This could also be a good opportunity to think about what study strategies are working for you and which are not. Take some time to rethink some of your strategies and try new ones. Think about how you take your notes and what strategies you use to revise. Are there some you would like to trial?
Rituals and Routines – These are still important. Maintain your daily study routines and make time for those personal rituals that are important to you. Make sure to take time out for yourself. Spending time doing things you enjoy is a great reward for your brain after a concentrated study session.
And most importantly, as I have mentioned in previous articles, always look after yourself. Remember to eat well, drink plenty of water, exercise and rest adequately.
2022 has been a great year encompassing many achievements and I look forward to working with you all in 2023.
