Cross Country Wrap Up
It was heart-warming to see girls from all year levels support and encourage each other at our Interhouse Cross Country on the last day of Term 1.
There were some quick 1km times recorded with students vying for the coveted Polywonga Lap. This award goes to the student that runs the fastest first lap from all races throughout the day. This year’s winner was Year 9 student Bria Goldman with a blistering 3.98.
It was an exciting finish to the day with only one point separating first and second. The final House Points tally finished with Smith in 4th place on 305 points, Williams in 3rd place on 319 points, Paterson in 2nd place on 356 points and the 2022 Cross Country House Champion was Downs with 357 points. It was some consolation to Paterson as they were awarded the House Spirit award for their support and encouragement throughout the day.
The Age Champions will be awarded their medallions on assembly in the coming weeks. Congratulations to the following girls on their achievements.

The 10-19 years RDS Cross Country trial is being held on Wednesday 27 April (Wednesday of Week 2) at the Rockhampton Touch fields. Students that placed in the top four at the RGGS carnival have been selected to attend. We wish the RGGS Cross Country team all the best in their efforts to be selected in the RDS Cross Country team for 2022.
Rowing
After a successful introduction in Term 1, the RGGS rowing program started in full swing this week with the girls getting their first attempt at rowing on water. I am excited to see how the girls go this year with our team numbers growing and some promising novice rowers joining up.
There are only two places left in our program for this year; if you are interested in participating, please send your expression of interest to Sport@rggs.qld.edu.au and further information will be provided.
Interschool Netball
The Secondary Interschool Netball competition started this week with wins in all divisions. Hopefully this is the start of a very successful term of netball for RGGS teams.
I have had some queries about the Primary Interschool Netball. This only occurs for Years 5 and 6 students and is run during their Friday afternoon PE lesson. This competition starts in Week 4 and information will be coming out to parents soon for participation approval.
