Voice, Treaty, Truth is the theme of NAIDOC Week 2019. On Wednesday, after months of practise our ATSI Committee, along with some Rockhampton Grammar School students, shared their very own NAIDOC celebration with our school community, parents and friends. We started the morning off with a traditional smoking ceremony performed by Wade Mann. The girls then talked about what this years theme meant to them and celebrated through song and dance. A special thank you to our guest speaker and Darumbal woman, Le Larnie Hatfield, Chase who played the didgeridoo for our girls, Aunty Mj who helped the girls with their dancing and instruments and to the Torres Strait Islander elders who made the celebrations even more meaningful. The day was finished off with a lovely morning tea. Our girls also danced for the Rockhampton Grammar School community later on Wednesday night for their own NAIDOC presentation. Thank you to all involved, we look forward to 2020 celebrations.
