NAIDOC at Girls Grammar was a vibrant celebration of culture, community and connection.

We were honoured to begin our all-school assembly with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Darumbal Traditional Owner, Uncle Wade Mann. Our amazing Year 4 students closed the assembly by performing the much-loved Torres Strait Islander song and dance, Taba Naba.

Throughout the morning, students immersed themselves in a range of rich cultural experiences, including ochre and artefact workshops, corroboree, spear throwing, fire making, storytelling, singing, and traditional games. These hands-on activities provided valuable opportunities for learning, sharing and celebrating First Nations cultures.

The day concluded with an inspiring and energetic performance by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman Majeda Beatty who captivated students through music, storytelling and culture.

A heartfelt thank you to Uncle Wade Mann, Olandi Asai, Thomas Serubi, student Faith, Warama Culture, Deadly Choices, Majeda Beatty, and all our parents and guests who helped make the day so meaningful. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate together.
