Bacon and Eggs

Our Year 9 and 10 Agriculture students are currently studying a unit called Bacon and Eggs. And what better way to bring learning to life than exploring all things pork and poultry firsthand?

This term, students visited the Bettapork Piggery in Biloela for a hands-on, aroma-filled learning experience. We are incredibly grateful to the Brosnan family for welcoming us, sharing their knowledge, and dedicating so much time to enriching our students' understanding of the pork industry.

Back on campus, we have also welcomed some new feathered additions as part of our long-term sustainability goals and practical agricultural learning programs. Our flock of 20 hens, including Isa Browns and Speckled Sussex, are already hard at work. Each day, food scraps from our school kitchen are fed to the hens, and the eggs they produce are collected for use in our boarders' dining menu.

From paddock to plate, our students are gaining valuable insights into sustainable food production and the agricultural industries that play such an important role in our region.
