Hi everyone, my name is Adam Tuffery; I’m thrilled to join the Rockhampton Girls Grammar team as the new Director of IT.
I have been working in the IT sector for over 23 years holding various roles at all levels from apprentice repair technician through to IT Management. Of those 23 years, the last 15 have been spent in the education sector, which at first started out as a stepping stone but that quickly changed as I found a real passion for IT in education. Leveraging technology to enhance education is vital for readying our students to learn for life. I only wish I had access to these technologies while I was at school myself.
Most recently I held the position of Technology Specialist - Infrastructure for Catholic Education where I was responsible for the technology infrastructure for 40+ schools and colleges (About 18,000 Students and nearly 4000 staff) throughout the dioceses of Rockhampton. I learned a lot about managing large environments and had some fantastic mentors but I’m happy to be back in a single school where I can see firsthand the impact technology is having, what might need to be improved upon and actually knowing the person on the other end of a phone call.
Being new to the systems here at Girls Grammar, I am currently investigating all systems and looking for ways to improve service delivery to our staff and students as well as making sure our data and infrastructure is as secure and reliable as possible. Thankfully, the previous director of IT did a wonderful job and things are in a great place. Having said that, I have had to hit the ground running with a few projects already underway or in the pipeline, while also patching existing systems to keep them safe and secure, all while trying not to get lost around the deceptively large campus.
All in all, I am excited to take on this new challenge, learning more about the current technology systems and getting to know the staff and students as well as the wider Girls Grammar community.
