On Wednesday 7 September, four girls from Year 11 and 12 (Claudia, Kirsten, Mackenzie and Meredith) attended the James Cook University (JCU) Heroes in Business program.
We enjoyed having the opportunity to make new friends, create a business and pitch our ideas, listening to guest speakers and participating in different activities relating to budgeting, business management and leadership.
During the session students were split into groups with each member having a role (CEO, HR, Finance and Second In Charge). We had to create a business plan and pitch the idea to the rest of the students. Throughout the program, we learned new skills on how to budget, manage a business, and leadership skills and characteristics on how to give a good impression at an interview, all of which will be beneficial for our future careers.
Thanks to this opportunity, we got to learn, experience, and expand our knowledge on business management, finance, budgeting and entrepreneurship, whilst getting the opportunity to network with other students from around Rockhampton and Gladstone.
