After a hiatus in 2020 due to COVID, the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball carnival returned this year to Nissan Arena, Brisbane.
Our girls travelled down on the 27 June to attend the opening ceremony where they were encouraged to learn a TikTok dance over the week.
On Day 1, the first two games were played on show court which were live-streamed.
Unfortunately due to COVID, it was announced on 29 June that Brisbane would be forced into lockdown at 6.00pm. After receiving confirmation from QISSN organisers that the carnival would be cut short, train tickets were organised within hours and the girls and Leigh Leane left Brisbane at 4.50pm, arriving safely in Rockhampton just after midnight.
On behalf of the team, we would like to thank Leigh for managing the team, shopping for food, supervising pizza making on State of Origin night and being Stacey's navigator.
Whilst the experience was short-lived, the team should be commended for the spirit and sportsmanship they displayed. Congratulations to Arkadie Dwyer for being awarded Rockhampton Girls Grammar's MVP of the carnival.
