Club Netball
With only two more rounds of the Club Netball season our teams are making their move for a finals birth. The development in all players this season has been great to see, with many teams moving up one or more divisions throughout the year.
RGGS Galaxy need to win their last two Senior B round games to make the semi-finals, and with a comprehensive win on Monday over Runaways, they are finishing the season strong and are looking really good on court.
RGGS Eclipse are in a 3-way tie for 4th place in the Junior B2 division. These girls are our development team and they have done just that this year. Their improvement has been so significant that you wouldn’t recognise them as the same team that started the year. They had a strong win over Frenchville on Monday night 26-21. The last time they met Frenchville won by 11 goals, and this just goes to show how far they have come.
RGGS Saturn are currently in 3rd place with a very tight table in Junior C1. Only two points separates 1st to 4th place, and 5th place is only two points down, so finishing the remaining games strong is a must to maintain their current position. These girls are all 12-14 years old and are playing much older teams, they are very talented young ladies, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are the future Girls Grammar QISSN team.
RGGS Nova in the Junior E2 division are placed 6th with only three points separating 2nd through to 6th place. Nova have come a long way this year and are still improving every week. Two more wins can see this team make the jump from 6th into the top four.
Good luck and fingers crossed we can get all four teams into the finals.
State Cross Country
Congratulations to Mackinley who represented Capricornia at the State Cross Country Titles at Runaway Bay from 16-18 July. While Mackinley wasn’t happy with her time over the 6km, she said it is always a great experience being able to compete against the best athletes in the state and she enjoyed her last ever school cross country.
Mackinley is quite the sporting all-rounder. She is now turning her sights to the Queensland Oztag All Schools tournament with her fellow Girls Grammar teammates at the end of next week. Then upon her return competes in the RDS athletics on Monday 1 August. Mackinley has also started preparations with the Girls Grammar All Schools Touch team that will compete in the Queensland All Schools Tournament in October.
She is a great ambassador for sport at Girls Grammar. Well done Mackinley.
