Year 12 student Mirae spent two days participating in the Heroes in Health Program, a collaboration between JCU and the Mater Hospital.
Through this program, students toured the operating theatres and maternity ward (they all got to see a placenta), witness a procedure in the Cath Lab, participated in a Pharmacy activity, and did CPR and suturing. Students visited the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy wards and were involved in hands-on activities to understand what health professionals do.
Congratulations to Mirae for winning the Suturing Competition by beating fellow competitors with three sutures in one minute!
Students in Years 11 & 12, have the opportunity to apply for the next Heroes in Health Program which will be run in October. Ms Miller-Waugh will send the link out in Term 3 for students to apply, so keep an eye out for this awesome opportunity!
