Yarning Circle Sustainability & Native Plant Enhancement Project
We are delighted to announce that the Rockhampton Girls Grammar School P&F Association has successfully secured funding through the Rockhampton Regional Council Environment & Sustainability Grants Program to deliver our Yarning Circle Sustainability & Native Plant Enhancement Project.
This exciting project will enhance our existing Yarning Circle through the addition of native trees, shrubs and groundcovers, a native bee hive, and educational signage, creating a more vibrant, biodiverse and culturally significant outdoor learning space for our students and wider school community.
We're also pleased to share that many of the native plants for this project have now been collected from Yarrandoo Gardens and Fitzroy Nursery, supporting local suppliers and ensuring species suited to our Central Queensland environment.
The project will: 🌿 Increase biodiversity and habitat for local wildlife
🐝 Support native pollinators through the introduction of a native bee hive
🌳 Create a greener, more sustainable learning environment
🤝 Strengthen cultural connection and outdoor learning opportunities
📚 Provide hands-on sustainability and environmental education for students
We look forward to sharing progress updates as the project takes shape and watching this special space continue to grow for future generations of Girls Grammar students.
This project received assistance from Rockhampton Regional Council's Community Assistance Program.
