Year 4 Camp
It was an action-packed adventure filled with fun, friendship and new experiences when our Year 4 left the safety of Girls Grammar or the first time ever and went to stay overnight at the Capricorn Caves. They explored amazing underground caves, spotted ghost bats, challenged themselves with abseiling and rock climbing, and enjoyed orienteering and team-building activities. They even met a real palaeontologist from CQU, dug through fossil pits and discovered tiny bones, including teeth and an eagle’s toe bone!
Our students showed courage as they faced their fears in the dark caves and challenged themselves to climb higher, even Mrs Hemson made it up the climbing wall. They also discovered that teamwork was the key to success during orienteering and supported one another when things felt a little scary. Of course, the delicious food, night walks, fascinating insects and plenty of laughs with cabin friends made the experience even more special!
As one student shared, “It was sad when we left, but it also felt good to go home.”
Year 4 returned with wonderful memories, new discoveries and a stronger sense of independence. What an incredible two-day adventure!
