Yoga Sessions Help Rockhampton Girls Grammar Boarders Relax

At Girls Grammar we are constantly looking at ways to help our boarders and we look to our staff to enrich our girls' lives. Currently we are fortunate to have a supervisor who has a passion for Yoga. Ms Rachel is doing yoga with all the girls that are interested each Saturday morning. We are looking at offering relaxation/stress relieving sessions with the older girls in the afternoons as well. Here is Ms Rachel's story:

'My yoga journey started when I was 16 years old. I was really struggling at school and was so stressed out with exams that Mum thought it would help a lot to take me to her regular yoga class.

It was there that I fell in love with yoga and continued on with my practice for many years in different studios, in different countries and with many different teachers.

In 2017 I decided to take part in my 200hr Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with the School Institute of Yoga, in Bali.

I never thought I would become a teacher but after my training it just felt right. I started teaching later that year in my home town of Melbourne.

I went on to do a further a 50 hours of training in restorative yoga/yoga Nidra in 2018, and I became an assistant in Cathie McGill’s Restorative training courses.

Most recently, this February, I completed my 300hr yoga teacher training certificate on Hatha/Vinyasa in Rishikesh, India. What an incredible experience it was, with traditional practitioners and teachers.

Yoga has been my rock through injuries and illnesses and it continues to be my passion, I'll never stop being a student and absolutely love to share what I learn on this journey.'
