Last week was a vibrant celebration of student voice, community spirit, and meaningful causes at Girls Grammar.

The annual Valedictory Speech Competition saw Year 12 students share the speeches they hope to deliver at this year’s Speech Night, the culminating event of their school journey. Each speech was original, reflecting the growth, gratitude, and aspirations of our graduating class.
Congratulations Clare H, who was voted the overall winner by her peers. We look forward to hearing her message at Speech Night. Well done to all participants for their courage and authenticity.

After raising an incredible $20,000 for cancer research through the Ponytail Project earlier in the week, the school turned pink on Friday for our annual Pink Day. The day began with the Pink Gate Challenge, a regional competition inviting schools across Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast to decorate their gates. Our Year 11 and 12 students led the charge, transforming our entrance into a sea of pink. Thank you to all students who embraced the theme, and a special shout-out to those driving by who gave us a 'beep for breast cancer research'; you made our morning!
The fun continued into morning tea, with a spirited tug-of-war between the Year 12 boarders and day girls, with the boarders emerging victorious. At lunchtime, a thrilling Year 12 vs Year 11 cricket match drew a lively crowd. With scores tied at the end of regular play, the game went into extra time, where Year 11 clinched the win by just one run, taking ‘home’ the coveted pink bat. Congratulations to Ralema G, named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making last week so memorable. Your energy, generosity, and school spirit continue to make Girls Grammar a community of pride and purpose.
