This week has been busy with activities including Bulls and Barrels, our major fundraiser, last Saturday. I am was very proud of our boarders as most of them volunteered to help either with the set up or pack up of the event. The girls were a big help and it was hot and heavy work. Some said they felt good volunteering for the school. It is so important to foster community engagement and service amongst our young people. A couple of girls weren’t so keen to give up their free time but we explained that these fun events, whether they are run by Girls Grammar or other community organisations, need a band of workers to make them happen. Our girls volunteer regularly at Girls Grammar which gives them confidence and pride in themselves and their school. It sets girls up to do this in their communities once they finish school as well. Many of our Girls Grammar girls have families that run events in their communities so they understand the importance of giving back. This week we have had girls helping out Mrs Mitchell by cleaning up the port rack areas around the school. Pride in our school is vital for our positive and welcoming environment.
Term 4 is packed with fun activities including trips to Great Keppel Island, the beach, Stoney creek, Timezone, and the River festival. The Year 10 and 11 girls are taking on the organisation of some of our activities including pool parties in our refurbished pool area.
Have a great weekend – we will be having a ball in boarding!
