Celebrating Culture, Courage, and Achievement: QATSIF Graduation 2025

ree

On 18 August, seven Girls Grammar students took part in the 2025 QATSIF Graduation Ceremony. This is an event that honours the achievements, resilience, and cultural strength of Indigenous students across Queensland who are in receipt of a QATSIF Scholarship throughout their senior schooling years.

The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) has long supported Indigenous learners through scholarships that empower them to complete their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), while honouring the legacy of Elders and Ancestors who came before them. This year’s ceremony was a powerful celebration of that mission, and our students were outstanding representatives of Girls Grammar.

A massive congratulations goes to Nellabbey Warusam, who confidently took the stage as Master of Ceremonies (MC) alongside a fellow scholar from St Brendan’s College. Her poise and leadership were truly commendable. We also celebrate Rosie Warapa, who delivered a moving reading of 'The Next Generation', a poem by Amelia Bishop. Rosie’s courage and heartfelt delivery resonated deeply with all in attendance.

Girls Grammar is proud to have a long-standing and meaningful relationship with QATSIF, and we are honoured to currently support 13 QATSIF Scholars in 2025 with an additional four who have secured scholarships beginning in the 2026 school year. This partnership continues to enrich our school community and strengthen the educational pathways for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Our QATSIF Scholars inspire their younger peers with their dedication, cultural pride, and academic achievements. Their presence at the graduation was a testament to the quality of their journey and the support of the Girls Grammar community.

We are incredibly proud of each student and look forward to seeing the next chapter of their story unfold with confidence, purpose, and pride.
