Curriculum Catch-Up

Now that we are underway with the school term and (hopefully) returning to some sense of normality, I would like to extend a warm Girls Grammar welcome to our continuing and especially our new families in 2022. The year ahead is an exciting one for all, but particularly our Year 12 students who will complete their schooling and move to the next phase of their life. Our Year 12 students have already begun their summative assessment program and are feeling confident in their outcomes.

One of my main priorities this year will be to work closely with senior students to ensure that their curriculum pathways are appropriate to what they wish to achieve in their post school life. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer a rich and diverse selection of curriculum options. Many students wish to enter university upon the completion of Year 12. Our senior curriculum allows for that through gaining an ATAR. Equally, many students choose alternative pathways whilst still at school. These options include studying for a Certificate course, doing a school-based traineeship or apprenticeship or even enrolling in university subjects. It is of course vitally important to ensure your daughter follows an individual pathway appropriate to her needs.

Over the course of this year I will endeavour to explain some of the different educational organisations and procedures involved in the education of your daughter. This will include information about how to ensure that your graduating daughter will be eligible to receive the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Information about NAPLAN testing will also be important to consider over the coming months.

Please feel free to contact me johnfry@rggs.qld.edu.au for advice about curriculum pathways specific to your daughter’s needs.
