Girls Grammar Sporting Spotlight: 10-19 Years Cross Country

Water, mud, and a dramatic sliding finish marked the final day of Term 1 at the 10–19 Years Cross Country. Despite a wet week leading up to the event that forced changes to the course and program, those who took part embraced the tough conditions with true grit and determination - making their houses proud in the process.

There were some impressive times recorded across the board, but a standout performance came from 11-year-old Olivia Atkinson, who claimed the 2025 Polywonga Lap Winner title with a lightning-fast 1km time of 4:46. Adding to her 2024 Gift sprint victory at the athletics carnival, Olivia continues to demonstrate exceptional all-round running ability in both sprint and distance events.

I’m looking forward to seeing which house will be crowned Champion after our 5–9 Years age groups compete on Friday, 9 May. With the competition still wide open, it’s anyone’s race to win - but keep an eye on Downs and Smith, who consistently perform well in the junior primary events. The final result is sure to be an exciting finish!
