This year, the Wellness Club has had the wonderful opportunity to visit Bethany Aged Care on two occasions – once in Term 2 and again in Week 6 of this term. These visits gave our girls a chance to connect with the residents, sharing stories about our lives as Girls Grammar girls while also listening to the rich and fascinating experiences of the older generation.
The afternoons were filled with conversation, laughter, photos, and even a few board games. Although our time together was short, it was truly nourishing for the soul and a reminder of the joy that comes from building connections across generations.
From the students’ feedback, it’s clear how meaningful the visits were:
“I loved spending time with the older generation and would love to go again.”
“The highlight was hearing how different their lives were in comparison to ours and listening to their stories.”
“I feel we should do this more often and spend longer with the older folk, we don’t do this enough as a younger generation.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to the wonderful Wellness Club for their warmth, enthusiasm, and for being such outstanding representatives of Girls Grammar.
