Friday, 9 May, was a spectacular day for our youngest runners as the Prep – Year 4 students gathered for an action-packed morning of Cross Country competition. The event was filled with boundless energy, determination, and a true sense of school spirit. From the very first whistle, students embraced the challenge with grit and enthusiasm, pushing past their comfort zones in a fantastic display of resilience.
There were triumphant smiles, exhausted but joyful faces, and even a few tears - some from the thrill of victory and others from the sheer effort of the race. But through it all, every participant showed immense pride in representing their House, contributing valuable points towards the final tally.
The following students excelled in their respective age categories, demonstrating outstanding stamina and commitment:
Age Champion | 2nd Place | 3rd Place | |
5 Years | Dusty Dodson | Keiley Thompson | Pepper Jasperson |
6 Years | Grace Zaghini | Lucy Hopkins | Sadie Price |
7 Years | Isabella Barton | Georgia McKelvie | Sophia Savage |
8 Years | Skye Lindley | Chelsea Hinz | Ashley Howard |
9 Years | Poppy Misselbrook | Olivia McKelvie | Daisy Bird |
Each of these students showed tremendous effort, but they weren’t the only ones making an impact - the lower primary girls rallied together, giving their best performances to earn valuable points for their Houses. Every competitor, whether finishing at the front or pushing through to the end, contributed to an atmosphere of encouragement and perseverance.
The excitement continues to build as we eagerly await the announcement of the Champion House at next week's assembly. With such a closely contested race, anticipation is high, and students are on the edge of their seats to find out which House will claim the title and be crowned the distance running queens of the school.
Congratulations to all participants - you have shown that true champions are not just those who finish first, but also those who run with heart, determination, and school pride.
A big thank you to the senior students and prefects that came along to help guide the way, and to our fabulous teachers and parents for your support. The Girls Grammar community is such a joy to be a part of!
