As we head into a well-deserved three-week school holiday, it’s the perfect time to relax, recharge, and take a break from the busy pace of the term. While it’s important to rest, it’s just as important to care for your body, your mind, and your soul.
It might be tempting to spend the entire break on the couch, scrolling through your phone, binge-watching TV shows, or gaming for hours - but try not to let the whole holiday pass by in front of a screen. A little downtime is great, but it’s all about balance.
Why not be a tourist in your own town? Rockhampton has so many amazing places to explore. Take a peaceful walk through the Botanic Gardens, enjoy a family picnic with a view at Mount Archer, or hike one of the nearby trails like the Zamia Walk or the First Turkey Reserve tracks. Want a day trip? Head to The Caves, relax at Yeppoon Beach, or stroll through Kershaw Gardens.
Getting outside and moving your body doesn’t just help with physical health- it lifts your mood, clears your head, and helps you return to school feeling refreshed and motivated. Whether it's walking, biking, exploring, or just soaking up the sunshine, those small moments outdoors can have a big impact.
So yes - enjoy your sleep-ins and your screen time, but also make space for fresh air, movement, and quality time with family or friends. These holidays are your chance to rest and recharge in the best ways possible.
Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and active holiday break!
