On Friday, the Year 11 cohort dedicated their early morning to decorating the school’s front gate with an assortment of pink decorations, in the hope of not only winning the local schools competition but raising awareness about breast cancer in the school and the community.
October is breast cancer awareness month, with this year’s theme being 'No one should face breast cancer alone'; an idea that holds a lot of meaning in our school community. It also serves as a reminder that there are many ways for others to support patients and families in prevention, detection, and treatment. With one in eight women being affected by this cancer, it is so important to continue to raise funds and awareness to help these women in need. The girls looked amazing in their pink outfits, which goes to show we have a wonderful and supportive community at Girls Grammar. Some of the decorations used to decorate the gate were made in sisters, giving everyone a chance to be aware and advocate for this worthy cause. As always, the pink cow made her appearance, just adding to the eye-catching outcome of this year’s Pink Gate Challenge.
