Each year, the Queensland Oztag All Schools Tournament brings together the finest school Oztag teams from across the state, converging on the Sunshine Coast to compete for the coveted State Champion title.
Girls Grammar has consistently made a strong showing at this prestigious event. After a rebuilding year in 2023, our girls embarked on the journey on Thursday, 25 July, eager to test their skills on the state stage.
Throughout three gruelling days of competition in the Year 12 division, our team grew not only in skill but also in confidence. Facing some of the most consistent and experienced Oztag teams in the tournament, our girls displayed remarkable perseverance and showcased skills beyond their years.
Among the highlights of the carnival were our 0-0 first half against Alexandra Hills in the opening game and an intense match against Mt Maria College, where we traded tries until the last minute, narrowly missing out on a win. Perhaps our greatest achievement was holding powerhouse Marymount College to a 7-0 game. Marymount, the undisputed top Oztag team in the state for several years, went on to win the All Schools Grand Final with the same scoreline. The fact that our girls kept the score so close is a testament to their hard work and determination.
We couldn't be prouder of how our girls represented both the school and themselves, standing tall against older and more experienced opponents.
