RGGS Gold Crowned Champions

The RGGS Gold touch team capped off an incredible season with a commanding 4–1 win over Buccaneers in the grand final on Wednesday night, bringing home the title in spectacular fashion. Buccaneers got an early lead with a runaway try down the sideline, but once the Girls Grammar girls found their rhythm, there was no holding back.

Star player Alissa Fort was named Player of the Final after delivering an outstanding performance, scoring three of the team’s four tries and leading by example at both ends of the field. Her speed, skill, and determination were on full display and proved to be the difference in the high-stakes matchup.

The team’s triumph is all the more impressive given the challenges they faced early in the season. Originally competing in D Grade, half of the team stepped up to join the C Grade team after a reshuffle was caused by player withdrawals. Despite this sudden move into a tougher division, the girls quickly found their rhythm, worked hard at training, and improved week after week – culminating in this well-deserved grand final victory.

Their path to the final wasn't without drama. In a controversial semi-final, RGGS Gold narrowly lost to Rebels while several of their key players were away at camp. However, an investigation revealed the Rebels had fielded unregistered players from a higher division. As a result, the RGGS team was rightfully awarded the win and advanced straight to the grand final.

I would like to praise the team, not only for their skill and sportsmanship, but also for their resilience, adaptability, and strong team spirit throughout the season. Congratulations to RGGS Gold – champions and a team to be proud of!

Lastly, thank you to the small but vocal crowd of supporters that came out to cheer the team on and to our amazing assistant coach Ellexis for all your time, effort and positive attitude.

Season 2 kicks off early in Term 3 and we would love to see new players joining up for the season ahead.
