Grand Finals
It has been a busy week of grand final action with both the 15yrs Rugby 7s team and the Junior Basketball team making their respective grand finals.

The Rugby 7s girls played against TCC in a very exciting game on Sunday afternoon at Rugby Park. Right from the start of the game there were runaway tries, heaps of line breaks and some really great displays of passing skill. The teamwork in defence and try saving cover tackles showed that the girls were there to give their all. TCC managed to get away with the win by one try, but we held our head high, knowing we had tried our hardest. We would like to thank the coaches from Rugby QLD, Aarre and Tristan for coming to RGGS and running the weekly development sessions. Aarre also coached the 15s girls weekly in the interschool competition. A big thank you also goes to Kurt for assisting each week at the interschool comp with the 13s and Opens girls. We really appreciate your efforts. Congratulations to Jalime Wosomo on being named RGGS player of the final.
The basketball girls were down to only six players with boarding early departures, so it wasn’t an ideal way to finish the season. The girls played hard and put on their best game of the term, unfortunately going down by 10. We had a tough battle with St Ursula’s College in our round game, so it made for a really great grand final show down. Well done girls on your achievement this term. Thanks to super coach Miss Lacoste for her efforts throughout the season.
School Sport Selections
Congratulations to Summer-Lily for her selection in the RDS 12yrs Rugby League team.
Congratulations to Ella for her selection in the Capricornia 15 -16yrs Rugby 7s team. Ella will now attend the State Championship in Brisbane in May.
Oztag Trials
We had a good turnout at the RGGS All Schools Oztag trials on Sunday. It was a tough afternoon for the selection panel, but they are confident that RGGS will have a very strong team attending to this year’s tournament. From Sunday’s trial, the following squad of 20 players will train through the start of Term 2. This squad will then be cut down to the final 16 team members and 4 shadow players mid-term to continue preparations leading into the Oztag All Schools event in Term 3.
