Sullies Netball

With some nasty weather around, this years Sullivans Netball Carnival kept us guessing. RGGS had four teams participating and despite the conditions, the girls represented us with great sportsmanship and comradery. It was great to see the girls out cheering on their fellow teams and setting up tunnels for the players to run through. Well done to all involved.

Thank you to the coaches for giving up their time to support our RGGS teams. Three cheers to Liz Curtis for all her hard work organising the event on behalf of RGGS.

RDS Cross Country

The RDS Cross Country trials were held on Wednesday 27 April at the Rockhampton Touch Fields. The top four runners in each age group from the RGGS Cross Country were selected in the RGGS team to participate. It started off with a wet and windy morning, but luckily the rain held off and it was a nice cool day for distance running.

Congratulations to Bria Goldman who came 2nd in the 14 years event and Mackinley Cox who came 4th in the 18 years event. Both girls have now been selected to represent RDS at the Capricornia Trial on 17 May.

Other great results were Charlie Mallyon in 7th place, Makenzi Cullen in 8th place, Ella Williams in 9th place and Mia Pienaar in 10th place. These girls are shadows and may be called into the RDS team if students in the top six withdraw in their respective divisions.

Capricornia Selection:

Congratulations to Stacey Ross-Miller on her Capricornia 12yrs Netball team selection. Stacey will head to Townsville in June to represent Capricornia at the State Championship. Good Luck Stacey.

Upcoming RDS Trials:

Students attending trials need to submit the RDS trial form for the events below via email to Sport@rggs.qld.edu.au or a printed copy submitted to reception at least three (3) days prior to the trial date. The RDS Parental Permission Form is located on the RGGS website under the resources tab.

RDS 10 -12yrs Tennis - 9 May 9.00am - 2.00pm Rockhampton Tennis Centre
RDS 10 -12yrs Softball - 11 May 4.00pm - 5.30pm Kele Park (Rockhampton Softball)
RDS 13 -15yrs Basketball - 12 May 11.00am - 12.00pm at Rockhampton SHS

Please remember that students must wear full RGGS sport uniform to trials and day students are required to provide their own transport.
