Friday 18 February saw students from Years 4-12 compete at the annual Girls Grammar Swimming Carnival at the Southside Memorial Pool. It was a great day filled with war cries, friendship, comradery, and school spirit.
I would like to say a big 'thank you' to all students for your participation and attitude on the day. There were students helping with time keeping and marshalling duties and packing up at the end of the day. This helpful attitude allowed us to stay on schedule and even get ahead of schedule at one point to get some free swim time.
Some great rivalries emerged throughout the day in the different age groups and these close competitive finishes made the day so exciting. It was also great to see a lot of our new Girls Grammar girls getting in and having a go, with many new students excelling.
Age Champions will be awarded on the next assembly and I know that there is a lot of excitement around who will receive these awards.
The House Spirit award went to Smith. They were extremely loud and supportive all day, even encouraging girls that were in other houses to have a go.
The final House Points tally finished with Smith in 4th place on 946 points, Downs in 3rd place on 1096 points, Williams in 2nd place on 1120 points and the 2022 Swimming House Champion was Paterson with 1429 points.
I would also like to congratulate Saphron, Makenzi and Rose for their Capricornia Swimming team selection. The girls will head to the State Titles in Brisbane in March. We wish them the best of luck. If anyone else was selected in the Capricornia Swimming team, please send in your Principal Consent form for signing.
