A Word from Girls Grammar Principal, Kara Krehlik: Academic Achievement

This week’s Academic Assemblies were a time to reflect on the remarkable achievements of our students from Semester 1 who demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies. Additionally, we acknowledged the incredible academic improvement of others, proving that hard work and persistence truly pay off.

At Rockhampton Girls Grammar, we hold academic success in high regard. Our school culture values learning as a means to open doors and create countless opportunities for each of our students. As reflected in our motto, "Clever Confident and Connected," and in the words of our school song, "not only for school but for life we are learning," we strive to embody these ideals in all aspects of our learning journey.

As we celebrate our students' Semester 1 accomplishments this week, it is also a time to look ahead. I encourage each of our students to reflect on the goal-setting discussions they've had in their Care classes, the valuable insights gained from GPA analysis, and the guidance provided by their dedicated Care mentors. These tools and resources are here to help students reach their full potential and make the most of the opportunities before them.

I strongly encourage our students to analyse their Semester 1 academic results, seek support from their teachers, and proactively plan for the next two terms ahead. Although it may seem like a long way off, before we know it, the end of the year will be upon us. So, I urge all students to make the most of the opportunities before them as they commence a new semester!

To our academic award recipients, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Your hard work, passion, and determination have brought you this well-deserved recognition. I also want to take a moment to recognise and thank our teachers whose passion and dedication to their respective curriculum areas have played a crucial role in helping our students reach their learning goals.

Our teachers' commitment to teaching goes beyond the classroom, extending into guidance, mentorship, and encouragement, helping our students discover their strengths and nurturing their talents. It is through their expertise and care that our girls can explore various cocurricular and cultural pursuits, contributing to their holistic development, which is of the utmost importance to myself and the staff at Girls Grammar.

To those students who didn't quite reach their academic goals in Semester 1, I encourage you to embrace this new term with a growth mindset. Believe in yourself and your potential. At Girls Grammar, we have the support and resources to help you achieve your goals, but it starts with you, your determination, and dedication in taking the first step to get there.

I eagerly look forward to sharing in our students’ further achievements and commemorating the successes of so many of our girls in their diverse cocurricular and cultural endeavours throughout the upcoming semester, beginning with the much-anticipated Anastasia the Musical next weekend!
