A Word from Our Principal

‘Teaching through every moment’ the theme for this year’s World Teachers’ Day, acknowledges the many ways teachers provide support and inspiration to our students.

World Techers’ Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank teachers across Queensland for the important role they play in our communities and for the positive impact they have on the lives of students.

Celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide, World Teachers’ Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. World Teachers’ Day is held internationally on 5 October, but as the date usually falls during our school holidays, Queensland celebrates on the last Friday in October.

Today we marked the occasion by celebrating with a lunch kindly provided by the P&F Association. From our teacher aides to kitchen, laundry, facilities, grounds and maintenance, administration, finance and boarding, every member of staff plays a role in influencing, supporting, encouraging, nurturing and educating our girls. We thank the P&F for recognising the role of all staff by including the whole team in their generous gesture.

At Girls Grammar it’s not just about acknowledging the teachers, but all staff who help support, guide and encourage students from Prep through to Year 12. As a cohesive and collaborative community who are all here for the best interest of the girls, I would like to acknowledge everyone on the Girls Grammar team by wishing them all a ‘happy staff appreciation day’.
