I am delighted to announce that the recruitment process for our new Deputy Principal - Students has come to a successful conclusion. After considering a strong pool of applicants from across Queensland and inter-state, it is with great pleasure that I introduce Samantha Cobon as Rockhampton Girls Grammar School's newly appointed Deputy Principal - Students.
Right from the beginning, we set clear criteria for the ideal candidate, focusing on attributes and competencies essential for this important role. These included strong interpersonal skills and self-awareness, excellent communication abilities, the capacity to foster positive relationships with staff, students and parents, a genuine passion for the educational and developmental needs of children and adolescents, the mindset of a lifelong learner, and the skills to proactively manage our students' social and emotional well-being.
Having experienced an all-girls boarding school environment herself, Sammy understands the unique challenges and opportunities that come with it. She possesses a genuine passion for pastoral care and supporting the well-being of girls.
Since joining Girls Grammar in 2021, Sammy has already established strong relationships with our staff and students, demonstrating exemplary leadership as she guided our Staff Association as their elected President.
She is seen as a role model and a safe, trusting support system for many students. Her love for our school and her dedication to empowering young women is truly inspiring.
I have full confidence that Sammy will undertake her new role as Deputy Principal - Students with integrity and courage, following in Nadine's footsteps to build upon the strong foundations of open, honest communication, where the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.
As I mentioned earlier this term when announcing Nadine's resignation, we are committed to a thorough handover process. This process will commence once Sammy's current role is filled, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of support for our students.
