During the last week of school, Molly (Year 10) attended the Destination Doctor Program held by CQUniversity. Read below, her account of the experience:

This immersive clinical experience is designed specifically for regional Year 10 students, aiming to give us a taste of future careers in medicine through various hands-on activities such as blood typing, suturing, and operating an ECG (electrocardiogram). Each hands-on activity was preceded by a short theory lesson to ensure we understood the processes and their positive impact on the human body. The program also allowed me to collaborate with like-minded peers, current medical students, and other health professionals.
After completing the activities, we attended a lecture hall for an information session and Q&A. We received valuable insights about being a doctor, the requirements for the Regional Medical Pathway, SUN courses, and the subjects we should take in Years 11 and 12. Additionally, current medical students shared UCAT study tips and university interview tips, especially for applying to the Regional Medical Pathway (RMP).
The Destination Doctor Program gave me an amazing insight into the future tasks I will undertake as an OBGYN. I highly recommend this program to any students interested in medicine or science. It is also an excellent opportunity to determine if a career in medicine is the right path for you.
