Boarding Bulletin

Term 2 is coming to an end and we are busy ensuring our girls catch their trains and flights on time. With current restrictions placed on our borders remaining closed, some of our girls have made arrangements to stay with extended family locally. We are all looking forward to a well-earned break and to be able to relax and unwind at home.

Last weekend the Jackson girls enjoyed an outing to the Botanic Gardens chaperoned by our senior girls, followed by a packed picnic lunch. The girls participated in a game of bocce and Oztag, explored the beautiful garden scenery and 'chilled out'. Our Jackson girls shared the responsibility of resident photographer and were able to capture some fantastic snaps. The weather was glorious and a change from last weekends wet weather.

Jackson House hosted a farewell party for our departing comrade Camryn, who we wish well as she joins her family overseas. A movie night was enjoyed by all with the Year 12’s hosting the event in MMPH. It wouldn’t be a movie night without pizza, popcorn and lollipops.

Covid19 restrictions has made a positive impact on our girls who have relished participating in activities that they wouldn’t normally have done such as: playing cards, board games, knitting, doing workouts and going for runs and walks together. There has been a very relaxed and friendly vibe in boarding over the past few weeks.

Wednesday night we were treated to our traditional Christmas Dinner in July (in June). A number of Year 12 girls decorated the dining hall and the Year 11 girls captured moments from the evening. The confidence gained from this kind of responsibility is hard to measure. I would like to congratulate and thank the senior boarders who have organised and run so many of the activities this term. The skills and confidence gained from being responsible for these activities will keep them in good stead in the future. Term 2 has been a challenging time for our girls, but their resilience and desire to continue to do well academically this semester has been commendable. The girls have freely shared their academic achievements with me, it is great to see both a balance of working hard and playing hard at RGGS boarding.

We would like to wish you all a fantastic holiday break with your daughters and we are looking forward to seeing all our boarders return next term.

Take care and stay well.
