Boarding has proven very popular at Rockhampton Girls Grammar. We are currently close to capacity in the boarding houses we have open at the moment. The school is currently undergoing a refurbishment of our Upper Jackson dormitory so if our numbers continue to grow as they are we will open that boarding house for the beginning of Term 3. It is very exciting that this is happening as we are passionate about our boarding community and we are excited to welcome new girls into the fold. This has made flexi boarding very limited for Term Two. We can offer extended day boarding to all our families but overnight spaces are limited. If our families are interested in having their daughters stay in boarding for any period of time in Term Two it would be best if they contact me via email (StaceyMcCarthy@rggs.qld.edu.au) to ascertain availability. Should we open Upper Jackson next term then we will no longer be restricted to those girls wishing to join us for short periods of time.
We continue to offer lots of activities during the week and on the weekends which has kept the girls busy and less prone to homesickness. Our whole community was proudly involved in the ANZAC march on the weekend and nearly 50 boarders headed to the movies on the public holiday. Next public holiday we are planning a trip out to Beef Week to see what all the fuss is about. For some girls this is a reflection of their lives and for others it is a totally foreign world. It is terrific to see our country girls being able to showcase their experience and knowledge to their peers. Have a great week.
