On Wednesday 2 August during Career Education, Year 10 had a visit from Construction Skills Queensland with Paul Tydd and BFA Electrical. They discussed possible career pathways in each type of trade such as civil, commercial and residential and how to enter the trade industry. Kacie Bispeskov from BFA Electrical spoke to us about what it was like being a woman in a predominantly male industry. It was inspiring to hear about what we are capable of and how, while being a female tradie isn’t perfect, it is getting better. More women in the industry will help to create a more inclusive space and encourage women to pursue the jobs they want to do rather than be afraid of entering a male dominated workplace. This visit was greatly appreciated by the Year 10 students as it was extremely educational and most definitely inspiring to see how women can make such a huge positive impact in the tradie world.
