During the recent school holidays, Brisbane played host to two of Queensland’s most prestigious music education programs: the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) and the Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP), both facilitated by Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.
Rockhampton Girls Grammar School was proudly represented by Amy Wollaston and Alexandra Walker, who participated in various SHEP Queensland vocal ensembles. Their commitment and talent were on full display as they collaborated with students from across the state in intensive rehearsals and performances led by nationally acclaimed conductors.
Adding to the excitement, Cadence Wone De Rungs was successful in her audition and selected to join AHEP, a national-level program that brings together Australia’s top young musicians. This remarkable achievement highlights her dedication and musical talent, and we are incredibly proud to see her, along with Amy and Alexandra, representing RGGS on such a prestigious stage.
These programs offered students the opportunity to perform challenging repertoire, connect with like-minded peers, and grow as musicians in a professional and inspiring environment. The final concerts were a celebration of musical excellence and the transformative power of arts education.
Congratulations to Amy, Alexandra, and Cadence for their outstanding achievements. Your passion and hard work continue to inspire our school community and highlight the importance of the arts in education.
