On Wednesday 18 June the Destination Doctor program was held by CQ University, attended by Porsha, Simran, Rebecca, and Umna. This immersive program offered students a valuable opportunity to develop a range of medical skills and explore post-school pathways into medicine.
The day began with an insightful talk session, where we had the chance to speak with current medical students. They shared their experiences, including how they prepared for university applications and which high school subjects helped them most.
Following the talk, we participated in a series of hands-on activities. These included learning how to take blood and determine our blood type, practicing different types of medical stitching, and understanding the kinds of questions general practitioners ask during patient consultations.
Overall, the day was incredibly educational and gave all participants a clearer picture of what studying and pursuing a career in medicine could look like after high school.
