Girls Grammar Shines in Pink at 7Rocky River Run

Updated: May 30

It was a delight to see the sea of pink Girls Grammar running singlets at the annual 7Rocky River Run on the morning of Sunday, 19 May. We had an impressive turnout with staff, students, and family members participating across all races in this sold out event. Our team was thrilled to once again rank among the top 10 teams across all categories.

Our Girls Grammar athletes achieved exceptional results, particularly in the 2K Under 16 category. Mackenzie Burridge secured first place, with Catherine Wiltshire close behind in second. Catherine's performance was especially remarkable as she had already completed the 10K Under 16 race earlier that morning, finishing in eighth place. In the 2K 16+ years category, Ellexis Heilig took first place, and Georgia Priddle finished in a commendable fifth place.

Year 5 students Sophia Wall and Grace Walker also made us proud by finishing in the top 20 for the 5K Under 12 run. Lacey Hanrahan was a top 10 finisher in the Under 14 5K, demonstrating her strong running skills. In the Under 16 5K, Porsha Lowien placed in the top 10, while Calli McRae achieved a top five finish in the Under 18 category.

It was heartwarming to witness girls from Year 1 to Year 12 competing together and supporting one another. Their camaraderie and school spirit were evident as they cheered each other on throughout the races. The event showcased not only the athletic talents of our students but also the supportive community we have at Girls Grammar.

Seeing the pink singlets scattered throughout the course was a powerful reminder of our school’s unity. Whether it was students, staff, or family members, everyone’s participation and enthusiasm contributed to a memorable day.

We are incredibly proud of all our participants, regardless of their finishing times. The 7Rocky River Run was a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, promote physical fitness, and celebrate our community. Congratulations to everyone involved, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in future years.
