Living Our Values: A Celebration of Care, Courage and Commitment

Last week was a great reminder of the strength, care, and spirit that define our school community.

Last week, World Teachers’ Day was a moment to honour the incredible work our educators do every day. Students took the time to write messages to their teachers, expressing gratitude for the many ways they are supported, academically, emotionally, and personally. These notes were a beautiful reflection of the deep respect and connection between staff and students. It is a privilege to work in a school where these relationships flourish, and where every interaction contributes to a culture of kindness and growth.

We also marked Day for Daniel, a day of action for child safety and protection. Our primary students engaged in age-appropriate activities focused on looking after themselves and their friends, learning how to recognise unsafe situations and seek help. Across the school, students wore red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to safety and respect.

This week we held our Cocurricular Colours Assembly, celebrating the exceptional achievements of our students across 2025. Colours were awarded to recognise dedication, passion, and talent in sporting, cultural, and community pursuits. These awards reflect the commitment, hard work, and energy our students have invested to excel in areas that make our whole school proud. Congratulations to all recipients for your outstanding contributions.

We were also proud to see Lara, Mikayla, and Miss Girle, as participants in this year’s Ponytail Chop, represent Girls Grammar at a regional Cancer Council lunch, celebrating those who have contributed to fundraising efforts for support programs and services. Girls Grammar was deeply honoured to receive a special award in recognition of five consecutive years of support for the Ponytail Project — a testament to our ongoing commitment to cancer awareness and research.

Also present was Joy McCartney (née Blanning), a cherished member of the Old Girls’ Association, who was celebrated for an extraordinary 46 years of dedicated service to the Cancer Council. Her legacy of compassion and advocacy continues to inspire generations.

Together, these events highlight the values we hold dear: gratitude, safety, excellence, and community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so meaningful.
