Dear Parents & Caregivers,
A little bit about myself to those parents and caregivers that I have not met previously.
My name is Su Ung. I have been working at Rockhampton Girls Grammar School boarding since 2002. Before this, I studied at and graduated from CQ University with a double degree in a Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Literature & Geography) and Bachelor of Education (Primary).
As some of you may be aware, I have taken up the new position as Ms Stacey McCarthy’s second in charge (2IC) when she is on her days off on Sunday and Monday starting this term. It is a great privilege to be working alongside Stacey and to give her my support in boarding.
I am a very proud Girls Grammar parent as well, as my daughter Paige enrolled in the very first Prep Class offered at Girls Grammar in 2014. Paige is now in Year 9 and loves being a Girls Grammar Girl for the last ten years. I also have a son (Alexander) who is attending at Rockhampton Grammar School as a Year 5 student this year.
During my time at Rockhampton Girls Grammar, I have made countless beautiful memories by having the privilege to look after many young ladies and to see them grow into incredible women. Working in boarding can be challenging, but it also comes with its many rewards. The nature of the work means that I am constantly interacting with the girls and providing important life skills such as responsibility, independence, and leadership.
There is a motto that the girls like to use “RGGS for Life” and it truly is. To this day, I am very blessed to be still in touch with so many of my past boarders and able to follow their adventures, their careers and to see them having a family of their own. You truly make friendship for life at RGGS.
Working in boarding at Girls Grammar has given me an incredibly rewarding experience, being a part of helping raise the young ladies under your care to become caring, confident, and independent young women. . We have a very strong community, and our girls come from different backgrounds, creating a diverse and inclusive community, which I love being a part of.
It has truly been a blessing and privilege for the last twenty years and I am looking forward to many more years, making amazing memories and lasting friendships. I am excited about the new position that I am undertaking this term and look forward to hearing from many of you.
Su Ung
