Junior Team
The Junior Rotary Quiz Team, consisting of Bethany as captain, Harriet and Jessica, competed at the Rotary Club of Rockhampton North School Quiz. It was an extremely successful night with the girls taking out first place after many rounds of stressful trivia questions against numerous Rockhampton schools including the Rockhampton Grammar School, The Cathedral College, St Brendan's College, Heights College, South Rockhampton High and Emmaus College. The first round was to see who the four highest scoring teams were, which led to Girls Grammar scoring a 20, tied with Heights. Rockhampton Grammar and St Brendan's also made it through. The next round was St Brendan's versus Girls Grammar, which led to the girls coming out on top. In the finals, it was Girls Grammar against Rockhampton Grammar and after many nail-biting, tied-up scores, Girls Grammar pulled ahead 18-16. The team was then awarded a cheque of $500.00 with hopes of being able to compete at the regional contest. This was an amazing experience for the junior team as well as a rewarding team-building activity for the girls, who would all agree they are looking forward to future competitions.

Senior Team
Quizzing, reading, preparing … the senior Rotary quiz team made up of three Year 12 students, Jordan, Allysah and myself, arrived at Rockhampton High School, ready to enjoy our final rotary quiz. We had some tough competition with other participating schools including Rockhampton High, The Cathedral College, Heights College, St Brendan’s College, Glenmore High School, Rockhampton Grammar School and Emmaus College.
The competition is split into three sections. At the beginning of the first session the schools’ captains drew out a number, which placed us against Heights College. It was a very close call but we came out victorious with a score of 15-14. Unfortunately, this score was not enough to allow us to progress to the next round. We were disappointed but had a fantastic time participating and watching the other competitors. Thank you to Ms Miller-Waugh for organising our Girls Grammar teams, assisting us to prepare and escorting us to the quiz. We would also like to thank the North Rockhampton Rotary Club for providing this opportunity to schools in the region for over 30 years.
