Welcome back to the 2022 school year.

Thursday 10 February saw the first Girls Grammar Cocurricular Expo take place. The CAB was a hive of excitement as girls were busily heading around to stalls and gathering information about the opportunities on offer this year. A big congratulations to Andie Lang, the 2022 Cocurricular Prefect, on her organisation and running of the event and a big thank you to the senior students that helped set up and pack up.

The Girls Grammar Netball Club trials and QISSN trials are taking place this Saturday 12 February at the TCC Hall. There are still quite a few people that haven’t accepted the Parent Lounge invitation, and this must be done prior to attending the trials. Once teams have been organised from the trials, a new Parent Lounge invitation will be emailed to parents to complete the season registration and payment. Please keep an eye on your emails early next week for this one.

The Oztag season kicks off for our RGGS teams on Monday 14 February. The girls had their first training run this week where there were lots of giggles and some nice skills on display. It is great to see some new faces signed up this year and I am sure the experienced players will lead them well.

Oztag was very popular and unfortunately places filled up very quickly. If your daughter missed out on season 1, information for season 2 and new opportunities to sign up will be emailed to students in Term 2.

Our teams will also start in the Rockhampton Ladies Touch competition on Wednesday 16 February. Training will also start next week, and players have been emailed game times and training information. Please ensure Parent Lounge acceptance is completed, as well as the online registration and payment to Rockhampton Touch before Wednesday. Players cannot take the field unless both have been completed. I look forward to seeing the fun and excitement as our girls run around on the touch field for another year.

Friday 18 February is the 10 years to Open Swimming Carnival the Southside Memorial Pool. Planning and preparation is busily underway for this event. I can’t wait to see who will be crowned Age Champions for 2022. There are always some great rivalries on display and it really makes for an exciting day.

Students in Years 5 and 6 do not have to attend on the day. We are asking that only those girls capable and comfortable in swimming 50m attend (one lap of an Olympic size pool). Girls that do not attend will be completing learning activities with one of the Year 5 or 6 teachers for the day. We ask that parents please communicate to your classroom teacher whether your daughter will be at school or the carnival for the day.
