Team Success

Year 9 Netball

Congratulations to the RGGS Year 9 interschool netball team who on Friday evening defeated Mount Morgan State High in the Grand Final of the Rockhampton Secondary School Sport Netball competition. The game was very close with the lead changing in each quarter. Girls Grammar had a strong last quarter and came out winners. Ally was named RGGS player of the Grand Final. All players received a premiership medallion to recognise their achievement.

The girls played extremely well all season going through the competition undefeated. Congratulations Girls and coach Mrs Emma Whitehand on a fantastic achievement.

Primary Athletics

Congratulations to our primary athletics team who won the H.E. Woodward Memorial for Overall Aggregate and the Robert Schwarten Shield for C Grade Girls at the Interschool Primary Athletics. Laine, Isabel, Charlotte, and Havana were also selected to represent Rockhampton at the District Primary School Athletics. Well done girls on your outstanding achievements.

Touch Football

Junior Teams

10 Years - Runners up Division 1

12 Years - Winners Division 3

14 Years - Runners up Division 3

Well done to all three teams on your successful season.

Senior Teams

All three senior teams had a wonderful season of touch football and have learnt a lot by playing in the local senior competition.

Gold and White teams both made the preliminary finals of C and D grade. The Navy team made the semi-final of D grade only losing by one try.

Oztag

The new season has started with Girls Grammar Teams playing their first game last Monday evening. There are still a few spots available in some teams please contact Mrs Greta Doherty at gretadoherty@rggs.qld.edu.au if you are interested in your daughter playing Oz tag.

Rowing

Our small contingent of rowers have represented Girls Grammar well in local Regattas:

  • Rockhampton Novice and Sprint Regatta - won the Novice Girls Doubles and each of our rowers placed first in the Single Scull events.

  • Rockhampton City Regatta - Roxanne and Harriet placed first in their doubles race, Roxanne first and Harriet second in their 500m single race. Calli placed first in both her 500m and 1000m races.

RGGS P - 12 Athletics Carnival

The CQU oval was filled with the House colours of Girls Grammar students as they attended the annual athletics day. From throwing to jumping to running the carnival gave students the opportunity to display their athletic talents. Students who have done well and finished highly in events will be selected to represent the Girls Grammar Athletic Team which will compete at the Rockhampton and Districts Athletics Carnival to be held early next term. A massive thank you to all the staff who worked very hard officiating at events and to the parents who supported their daughter cheering them on.

Two highlights from the carnival:

  1. The Day students winning the annual Tug of War.

  2. The 'Gift' fastest 100m handicapped race won by Kaylyn

Results of the carnival will be announced at the first assembly in Week 1 of Term 2.
