As we move into the final weeks of the academic year, I want to take a moment to speak to all of you about the importance of finishing well. This is a time when your dedication, persistence, and hard work truly come together. Each lesson learned, each challenge faced, and every bit of effort you’ve invested over the year now contributes to your success.

To our Year 12 students: You are in the midst of a significant milestone — your final exams and the conclusion of your school journey. It’s natural to feel a mix of anticipation, excitement, and perhaps a little uncertainty about what lies ahead. Over the years, you’ve shown determination, resilience, and growth in countless ways. You’ve built not only academic knowledge but also the character and confidence that will support you as you step into the next stage of your lives.
The coming weeks are an opportunity to consolidate what you’ve learned and to take pride in how far you’ve come. Stay engaged, stay curious, and make every remaining day count.
Beyond your studies, remember that your time here has shaped skills that reach far beyond the classroom. You’ve learned how to think critically, communicate effectively, adapt to change, and persist through challenges. These abilities are the true foundation for whatever comes next — whether that be further study, work, or new adventures.
As you prepare to leave the familiar routines of school, hold onto your love of learning. The world outside these gates is full of opportunities waiting to be explored. Continue to ask questions, to seek understanding, and to embrace every experience as a chance to grow. No matter where your journey takes you, know that you will always be part of the Girls Grammar community — connected by shared memories, friendships, and experiences that have helped shape who you are.
For all students, no matter your year level, this is the moment to give your best effort. It can be tempting to slow down as holidays approach, but the habits of focus, time management, and perseverance you practise now will serve you well in every aspect of your future.
Set small, achievable goals to keep yourself motivated. Break your work into manageable parts and acknowledge your progress as you go. Every completed task, every challenge overcome, brings you closer to your personal best.
Remember too that balance is essential. Take time to rest, eat well, move your body, and look after your mental wellbeing. Success is built not only on hard work but on self-care and resilience. If you find yourself feeling stressed, reach out — your teachers, classmates, and mentors are here to support you.
Finally, remember that education doesn’t end with the final bell. The curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity you’ve developed here will continue to guide you throughout life. Keep learning, keep questioning, and keep striving to make a difference — both for yourself and for others.
We are proud of all that you’ve achieved this year and confident that you will finish strong. Stay motivated, stay kind to yourselves, and continue working with purpose and pride.
While our students demonstrate their learning, this past week also gives us the opportunity to pause and recognise those who make that learning possible.
World Teachers’ Day 2025
On Friday 31 October we celebrated World Teachers’ Day, a time to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our teachers. At Girls Grammar, our teachers do more than deliver lessons — they inspire curiosity, nurture confidence, and encourage every student to reach their potential. Their care extends well beyond the classroom, fostering a community built on respect, encouragement, and a love of learning.
We thank our teachers for their unwavering commitment, their creativity, and their genuine care for each student. Your efforts shape not just academic achievement, but the character and confidence of those in your care.
We’d also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to James Cook University for generously treating our staff to a delicious cake - it was truly appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed!
Happy World Teachers’ Day — and thank you for the difference you make, every single day.
