💛 The Yellow Beret 💛

Once uniform. Now a rite of passage.
Introduced in the 1950s as part of the school’s formal winter uniform, the yellow beret was worn with pride for decades. A symbol of belonging, service and representation, it was worn for formal occasions, during community service in PEP (the Wednesday afternoon Personal Enrichment Program), and to church by our boarders. It remained an essential part of school life well into the 1990s. When the uniform changed and the beret was retired from everyday wear, its significance was not lost. Instead, it was elevated.
Now, the yellow beret is worn only by Year 12 students at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, no longer a requirement, but an honour. A powerful rite of passage linking generations and reminding us that some traditions are worth preserving. 💛
