The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) has released the official timetable for the 2025 external examinations. These will take place from Monday 27 October to Tuesday 18 November.
You can view the full timetable here: QCAA External Assessment Timetable

What to Expect
All General subjects include an external examination. The contribution of these exams to final subject results is as follows:
Mathematics and Science subjects: Assess Units 3 and 4 – 50% of the final grade
Arts subjects: Assess Units 3 and 4 – 25% of the final grade
Other General subjects: Assess Unit 4 only – 25% of the final grade
Students will receive their confirmed internal assessment results before external exams begin.
Preparation Matters
Our Year 12 girls have already commenced formal exam preparation. We encourage parents to reinforce our key message:
'You cannot cram for an external exam.'
Success requires consistent effort and ownership of learning. The hard work must already be happening.
Mock Exams: A Vital Step
At the end of Term 3, students will sit mock exams to simulate the external exam experience. These help students:
Understand exam procedures and expectations
Practise subject-specific exam formats
Build confidence in a lower-pressure setting
Teachers will use mock exam results to guide final preparations in Term 4. Students can use them to identify areas needing further focus.
Staying the Course
As study fatigue sets in, it’s important to stay focused and keep sight of the end goal. The effort invested now will pay off - not just in results, but in the satisfaction of knowing they gave their best.
'Never leave Year 12 with regret of what could have been.'
Determination and resilience remain the most important traits for success. The habits our girls build now will carry through to university, careers, and life beyond school.
