Zonta Connect Ignites Molly’s Passion for STEM

Last week I attended a STEM Connect Zonta conference, and it proved to be an incredibly rewarding experience. The event brought together women from diverse STEM fields, offering both inspiration and practical insight into careers I hope to pursue. Listening to their stories highlighted the resilience and determination required to succeed in industries where women have historically been underrepresented. Many speakers shared how they overcame challenges, balanced expectations, and carved out space for innovation, which made their achievements even more motivating.

Beyond the formal presentations, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to connect personally with professionals already working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These conversations provided me with practical advice on study pathways, career development, and the importance of building supportive networks. Meeting role models face‑to‑face reinforced the idea that progress in STEM is not only about individual effort but also about collective encouragement and representation.

Overall, the night was both informative and inspiring. It broadened my understanding of the opportunities available in STEM. It confirmed my own aspirations to contribute meaningfully in these fields as I was lucky enough to receive the phone number of a nurse at the hospital. I feel fortunate to have attended and grateful for the chance to learn directly from women whose experiences will continue to guide and motivate me!
