Term 4 has been a season of creativity and critical thinking across middle school English and Humanities classes. In English, Year 7 explored poetic devices and their impact on readers through poetry and songs. Students examined author intention, structure, and language choices to uncover deeper meaning. Year 8 braved the dystopian world of The Hunger Games (thankfully without real casualties!) and used its themes to inspire their own creative stories. Meanwhile, Year 9 found themselves swept up in the star-crossed chaos of Romeo and Juliet, still searching for that elusive happy ending. Each class has embraced new skills, stories, and sparks of brilliance — proof that English at our school is never dull, always dramatic, and occasionally even poetic.
In Humanities, Year 7 investigated Water in the World, learning about water as a valuable resource and becoming budding meteorologists ready to read cyclone charts. Year 8 explored active citizenship and identity, comparing personal identity with Australia’s national identity and the influences that shape both. Year 9 delved into world history, examining the Interwar years — from the Roaring Twenties to the Great Depression — and how global events shaped societies. Across all year levels, students have strengthened their research, analysis, and data interpretation skills, responding thoughtfully to key inquiry questions.
This term has been a testament to curiosity and growth, as students continue to develop the knowledge and skills that will empower them as informed, creative, and engaged learners.
