Girls Grammar students excel in Lions Club 'Youth Of The Year' quest

Year 12 student Lucy Neaton with Senior English Teacher Mrs Lee Bartlem.

Congratulations to Kaysha Stewart, Hannah Rideout, Sonny Urbanek, and Lucy Neaton who competed in the prestigious Rockhampton Lions Club and Lions Club of Rockhampton - Fitzroy River 'Youth Of The Year' quest over the last few weeks.

In the Club Final, Hannah won the Public Speaking Award and Lucy won the overall round. The judges said they loved Lucy's interview and found her impromptu responses and speech to be very “genuine”.

Lucy then went onto the Regional Final where she won the Regional Public Speaking Award - moving onto the District Final. This was the first time in about 5 years one of our ladies had progressed this far.

Although she didn't win the final, the School was very proud of her achievements.

All of our ladies were brilliant ambassadors for our school. Their impromptu speeches were particularly impressive.

It was an excellent opportunity for Kaysha, Hannah, Sonny and Lucy to showcase their talents and enhance their confidence.

We are extremely proud of their efforts!
